John went to school in Lenawee County, Michigan and came to Kittitas County in about 1879 at the age of 21. He worked on the SMITH Ranch and the N. T. GOODWIN farm in the Ellensburg area prior to renting it and cultivating it for himself. John
later purchased the farm of J. B. REGO, his wife's father. John was a member of the M. E. Church and Woodmen of the World. ®8
